Addressing the valuation issue for Solar PV and Energy Efficiency is of paramount importance to us. Energy Sense Finance was founded in 2012 to provide market based solutions for the Real Estate, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency industries.
Although we were a startup in 2012, our founder, who spent over a decade in the mortgage banking industry was working on addressing the valuation issue long before that through his work on the original PV Value® concept in 2009. This effort led to him working with a member of the educational committee of the Appraisal Institute in 2010 and then partnering with the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Sandia National Laboratories in 2011 to develop the PV Value® tool proof-of-concept for Licensed Real Estate Appraisers which was released in December 2011.
At ESF, we don’t just come up with great ideas for the valuation and financing issues facing professionals, we strive to create viable solutions that can be used today by industry professionals who are actively moving the country to a more sustainable and brighter future.
Our valuation SaaS solution PV Value® is in use today in all 50 states in addition to D.C. and PR. It is being used by Appraisers, Realtors®, Lenders, Solar Sales Staff, Insurance and Mortgage Underwriters, Third Party Owners and Builders for high performance residential homes, commercial buildings and solar farms.
The PV Value® SaaS application is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative through a highly competitive award process.
The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative is a collaborative national effort that aggressively drives innovation to make solar energy fully cost-competitive with traditional energy sources before the end of the decade. Through SunShot, the Energy Department supports efforts by private companies, universities, and national laboratories to drive down the cost of solar electricity to $0.06 per kilowatt-hour.
